The Girls' Brigade began in 1902 as 'The Girl's Life Brigade', and later changed it's name when three other organisations joined. The 9th Nottingham Company started in 1952 at a chapel in Broad Street, moving to the Albert Hall Methodist Mission when that church closed, and then to Lenton Methodist.

Activ8 Uth @ TLC has replaced the Out Of Schools Activity Project (OOSAP) and is based at The Lenton Centre. The project has recently received funding from the Young People's Fund which runs from February 2006 until January 2009.
