The Dunkirk and Lenton Partnership Forum has been awarded an internet-ready computer and one year's access to the internet by BT Community Connections, a UK-wide award scheme helping to connect local communities to the web. The Dunkirk and Lenton Partnership Forum has been awarded an internet-ready computer and one year's access to the internet by BT Community Connections, a UK-wide award scheme helping to connect local communities to the web. The Forum was one of hundreds of groups that entered the East Midlands region of the scheme and impressed judges with their ideas on how an internet-ready computer would benefit their community. We plan to use the computer to allow community and voluntary groups and organisations in the area to access information on the web to promote the life of the whole community. We also hope that members of the Forum's committees and Working Groups will be able to find out about campaigns or policies, or contact groups and individuals elsewhere to further their interests. In this way, the Forum's computer can allow the whole community to benefit from the information and resources that are now available online. The Forum is also continuing to develop a website for the communities of Dunkirk and Lenton, and we intend that local groups and organisations will be represented on this website, which will provide information on all aspects of life in the local area. The address for Dunkirk and Lenton Online is www.dunkirkandlenton.co.uk - have a look to see how the site is developing! If your group or organisation would like to use the Computer Access Point, simply phone the office or pop in to book a time, telephone 9419525. We will give a basic guide to the internet to all new users. Groups or individuals can still enter BT Community Connections by logging on to www.btcommunityconnections.com. The deadline for Round Three is 10 August 2001. |
