Children and Young People Working Group | Education Working Group | Events Working Group | Health Working Group | Housing, Environment and Community Safety Working Group | Lifelong Learning Working Group | Other Working Groups Working Groups are designed to enable the Forum to carry out business relating to various issues. Issues that are raised at public meetings or brought to our attention in other ways can be dealt with in the relevant Working Group. Relevant issues can also be raised at the meetings themselves. Working Groups are open to anyone who is interested and would like to be involved in finding solutions to issues raised. The meetings are also often attended by representatives from relevant bodies, such as the Police, various City Council departments, local schools and the Primary Care Group for our area. These are the current Working Groups, although some have been put on hold due to recent staffing shortages. Children and Young PeopleA Working Group aimed specifically at addressing the provisions for children and young people in Dunkirk and Lenton. It has agreed to meet quarterly and is planning to survey young people in the area to identify what provision is needed and wanted. Back to top Education
This Working Group used to meet regularly to discuss issues around local schools and education in general in our area. They set up AMBER projects in the three primary schools in our area, which involves employing a local person to work in the school for 10 hours a week to help increase parental involvement in schools. Back to top Lifelong Learning Working GroupThe Lifelong Learning Group met for the first time in June 2001 to begin to develop a Lifelong Learning strategy for the area. Back to top Events Working GroupThis Working Group was established following the success of the Community Festival held in June 2001, with the aim of planning events in Dunkirk and in Lenton, to ensure that the organisation of the events went smoothly and to allow local people to bring their ideas together. A sub-group went on to organise another Community Festival in May 2002, and the full Working Group will shortly start meeting again to consider other ideas for the future. Back to top HealthThe Health Working Group met to follow up issues identified by the Health Consultation carried out in Spring 2000. It is now being co-ordinated by Area 7, who are holding an Asian Health Event in September. Back to top Housing, Environment and Community SafetyThe HECS Working Group meets regularly and has been looking at parking, lighting, rubbish, wheelie bins and more recently issues relating to Church Square.
